AMD has Athlon X2 250 in plans and this Regor 45nm SOI based CPU should get to 3GHz in June 2009. This is the scheduled launch for AMD and this CPU will have 65W TDP, while the previous Athlon X2 7750, 7550 and soon to launch 7850 have a 95W TDP, which is quite high for any dual-core.
Regor has 2MB cache and supports 1333MHz memory. The catchy
detail is that AMD might be able to push over 3GHz with dual-cores and surprises
us with a higher clock speed, but at this time, there are not talking about it.
Regor SOI 45nm dual-core will also get at least two energy efficient editions,
slower clocked parts that will end up with a 45W TDP. Intel already has its dual-cores at clocks up to 3.33GHz and this should be enough for Intel to keep the performance
crown in this segment, but we do believe that price per performance ratio will
be on AMD’s side.
