AMD is planning to launch its latest addition to Athlon X2 family, and the new CPU, will be an unlocked Black Edition and will work at 2.8GHz.
This is likely to be the fastest Kuma, 65nm K10 derived dual
core and after this one, AMD moves to Regor 45nm K10.5 based dual-core.The new CPU is Back Edition and AMD obviously wants to capture as much of this overclocking market as it possibly can, as people with dual-core budgets do like to push unlocked CPUs a bit more.
The new CPU launches on the 23rd of April and has
2x512KB L2 cache and 2MB L3 cache, and we can only hope that the next CPU will
get AMD dual-cores to over 3GHz, but this won’t happen before very late
Q2.
