As Atoms are eating Celerons, at least in the desktop market, and in netbook market they are supposed to create a new market, and not to damage cheap notebook sales, here are some scary plans for Atom market share in Q4 2009.
If all goes well, in Q4 Atom single and dual-core 45nm CPUs
will occupy more than 60 percent of entry-level desktop segment sales, almost 61
percent. The rest of this market should be shared between Celeron dual-core
E1000 65nm series and Celeron single core 400 series 65nm. Single core Celerons
should keep some 19 percent, while dual-core Celerons should enjoy 20 percent of
the market.
Atom should do a good job if they capture so many systems in
this very price driven market segment and Atom will obviously damage Intel’s
average selling prices in 2009, something that won’t be good news for
investors.
