Different everything

We have bad news for all of you that had hoped to plug a dual-core Atom into your Netbook. The dual-ore Atom 330 won’t work with the chipset and the cooler inside these small notebooks won’t be able to cool this 8W TDP CPU.

Furthermore, most of these CPUs are soldered, so you wouldn’t physically be able to plug it in unless you are skilled enough to solder 437 pins onto such a CPU.

We also heard that you need a different Northbridge in order to make it work. Intel explicitly said to its partners that it doesn’t want to see Atom 330 in any notebooks, and any attempt to launch such a machine would be heavily penalized.

So, the dual-core Atom 330 remains a desktop only toy.
