VIA's Nano CPU in non-stock photo
It really is tiny
VIA's Nano is finally here and we got the chance to see one of the CPUs today and to snap a picture of it. For comparison is a Swedish 1 krona coin which has a diameter of 25mm, which is slightly larger than a U.S. quarter.
The peculiar model numbers that appeared on VIA's site are indeed correct, and they're not related to performance. VIA is hoping that the Nano will find its home in a market segment somewhere between the Atom and Intel's dual-core Celeron processors and they're confident that it'll outperform the Atom, but didn't provide us with any specific details, but rather suggested to wait for some third party comparative benchmarks.
We hope to see some Nano-based products during Computex next week and until then you'll have to make do with the picture below.
