After 24 years at AMD, Randy Allen definitely deserved the title of Senior Vice President, Computing Solutions Group, AMD.
Randy used to be the key server guy, or to be more precise, he served as Corporate Vice President and General Manager for AMD’s Server and Workstation Business.
Randy got Mario Rivas' job and he will be responsible for all the products; and we could not think of someone that might know AMD better and that might understand this job better than Randy.
He is one of the key people responsible for the Opteron success and acceptance and as he is an engineer, he led the teams who have designed the original Athlon 64 and Opteron-based products.
A new chap, Nigel Dessau, a Brit among Yanks, will be responsible for all of the marketing.
