Intel also cut the prices of its server and workstation market and here are some of the changes. The Xeon X3360 quad-core Yorkfield with 2.83GHz clock and 12MB cache stayed at $525 and X3350 at 2.66GHz and 12MB cache, X3320 with 2.0GHz clock and 6MB cache haven’t really chanced its prices. X3350 still sells for $317, while X3320 sells for $268. It looks that new 45nm Yorkfield-based quad-cores won't change the price.
However, Xeon X3230 based on 65nm Kentsfield quad-core with 2.66 with 8MB cache and 1066MHz FSB has dropped from original $525 to current $268. X3200 with the same specs, but 2.4GHz core has dropped from $268 to $227, while X3210 with 2.13GHz clock stayed at its $227 price.
E3110, a single Wolfdale 45nm dual-core at 3.0GHz, 6MB cache and 1333MHz FSB has droped modes $2 from $189 to $187. Conro 65nm-based Xeon 3085 with 3.0GHz clock 4MB cache and FSB 1333 has dropped from $268 to $266, Xeon 3075 at 2.66 has dropped from $189 to $187, Xeon 3070 at 2.66GHz and FSB1066 has dropped from $317 to $315.
Furthermore, Xeon 3065 at 2.33GHz 4MB cache and FSB 1333 has dropped from $169 to $167, Xeon 3060 at 2.4GHz and FSB 1066 from $227 to $225 and Xeon 3050 at 2.13 2MB cache and FSB 1066 from $189 to $187.
The last one listed for the price cut is Xeon UP 3040 1.86GHz with 2MB cache and FSB 1066 that will sell for $167; again, a modest $2 dollar drop.
All in all, some Kentsfield 65nm quad-core CPUs will get cheaper, however, $2 price drops on the both 65 and 45nm quad-cores won’t really change the world.
