In its last April revision of CPUID AMD has finally made a string for SSE5. This is the multimedia set of instructions that will come with future processors.
You can see in the document that AMD has strings for SSE4.1 and SSE3, something that we’ve seen before, and the new one for SSE5.
"CPUID Fn8000_0001_ECX[SSE5]: Added" is what the document claims and you can bet that you will see this set of instructions in the new CPUs, but this is likely to happen in 2009, if not even later.
We just wanted to inform you that SSE5 is on the agenda. You can check the document at AMD's Website here. At least Frank, the creator of CPU-Z, will be able to do something about it.
