We've learned that Thursday is pay day at AMD, and at the same time many of the employees with get a final payment and a pink slip along with it.

We cannot be more sorry for these people, but it’s the broken K10 that got AMD into such a position, certainly not us. Our sources hinted that about 3-5% of the workforce will be hacked on Thursday, and that the remaining balance will be done over the next few months. The pink slip mayhem should finish in Q3.

As we wrote over the weekend and yesterday, two top VPs joined the people leaving AMD and we believe that they didn’t have much choice. Their groups messed up, and therefore they decided to leave.

We still believe that as a company AMD is on the road to recovery and that the reasonably priced Phenom 9x50 series is selling quite well.
