The new Celeron planned for Q1 2008 is going to be branded as the E2100 and it will work at 1.6GHz. This is the first ever dual core Celeron with dual core / dual thread support. It will work with FSB 800 and has 512KB cache memory.

It is a Conroe 65 nanometer-based CPU and it won't dissipate more than 65W. If you look more carefully into the specification, this CPU is actually an E2140 with half the cache, and we guess that this Celeron will be very overclockable.

The new dual core Celeron will work with any chipset that supports Conroe dual core based CPUs and Intel will aim it at customers who want more muti-tasking.

Faster versions are not planned before Q2 2008.
