Intel is releasing the next
generation of its deep-drilling vPro platform for business desktops
today.
The vPro and the Centrino Pro for laptops will be shipped with
better security and new virtualisation capabilities. The gear is
designed so that system administrators and managed service providers can
remotely manage PCs and laptops.
It sits beneath the operating system to
provide more functionality and security than is present in legacy boot-up
processes like Wake-on-LAN.
The latest vPro platform, which was
code-named "Weybridge," uses a Core 2 Duo processor, the Q35 Express chip
set and the 82566DM gigabit network interface connector.
