Tilera claims that it has developed a 64-core processor with an
embedded high-speed network that can pass 32 terabits a second between
cores.
Anant Agarwal who developed the chip for Tilera said the
Tile64 will clear up a lot of the problems of clogged data paths on
chips.
The Tile64, which has been built for networking and video
streaming servers provides ten times the performance of an Intel Xeon
chip while consuming far less power, Agarwal claims.
The Tile64 runs on Linux and is a RISC-based processor clocked between 600 MHz and 1 Ghz.
