Multi-core is the way forward
RIP single core
Single core chips are officially a thing of the past, according to Intel.
According to the Times of India Narendra Bhandari, Intel's director Asia Pacific - SSG Global Developer Relations Division), by the end of this year, almost all systems shipped with Windows XP or Vista will have multi-core processors.
He added that the era of single processors was almost coming to an end and that dual and multi-core processors were the way forward.
Intel is partnering with various engineering colleges and technological institutes worldwide to help develop a talent pool adept at multi-core processing and related software tools.
Bhandari said the company had shipped one million, quad-core processors in the last six months.
