AMD is involved in talks with Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing about making chips using 45-nanometre technology.

CSM already make AMD's 65-nanometre chips, but the company wants to dramatically improve its current design.

A spokesman for CSM has confirmed that the company is in talks with AMD but there is no firm agreement yet.
