We finally got a sneak preview in Intel’s new plans. The big company plans to introduce a new Quad core called QX6800. There is no mystery this one is clocked at 2.93 GHz, has 8 MB cache memory
This baby
will work at 1066 MHz FSB only while dual core CPUs will go to 1333 MHz FSB. This
is expected to happen at Q3 2007.
Until Q3 2007
Intel won’t have any new performance part in this market and quad core QX6700
will remain the fast and most expensive extreme performance part.
The QX 6800
part is socket 775 compatible and based on Kentfield 65 nanometre core. This
CPU has to hold the water till Intel introduces its 45 nanometre Yorkfield in
Q1 2008.
