Server and notebook deeper in 2017

AMD has showed off some clock and performance details about upcoming desktop Zen and some of you might remember that back in June at Computex, Fudzilla said that if the Zen boots windows it will boost AMD’s share too.

Fudzilla exclusively wrote about the 32 core Zen codenamed Naples some two months ago in quite detail and people called us crazy. Now it turns out we were right on the money.

As Intel, Samsung, MediaTek claims the same.

SON solves end user troubles

I still remember plugging the first 802.11a wireless card in my laptop and walking around the student’s dorm while I was streaming a movie. It was quite clear back then, more than a decade ago, that Wi-Fi would become ubiquitous. Now Qualcomm has solved a problem that has bothered people for a long time, they came out with a SON, a network that will self-organize and bring  real plug and play to homes and offices.

Of course, it is that time of the year. Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek and now Samsung will have 10nm SoCs ready for  phones in early 2017. Of course Samsung wants to use its own 10nm SoC in the Galaxy S8 that is expected in late February 2017, but probably with a mix of 10nm Snapdragon too. 

Shipping in 2017

MediaTek has revealed that its 10nm processor will be manufactured by TSMC and that it should start shipping in early 2017. 

No 3.5-mm audio

We are roughly just a month away from the iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus launch. The iPhone 6SE seems like a more appropriate name since we don’t expect any big upgrade from these phones,  but then again, maybe we'll be surprised. 

First Snapdragon 821 to ship soon 

Since early June, we have been closing windows on our summer advent calendar waiting for the Snapdragon 821 based Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe. Now it seems that the Asus Santa Claws is visting Malaysia first.

Google is preparing to refresh the 2016 Nexus codenamed Marlin and Sailfish. Someone tested this phone on the GFXbench and revealed that the Sailfish is a 5.0-inch phone with Snapdragon 820.

No pricing but comes with Leopard

Xiaomi VR Play is the official name for the VR from the Apple of China. The company aims to support 4.7 to 5.7 inch phones and comes with unique two way zip designed VR glasses.
