Switching from optical in-display sensors with next-gen flagship phones

Xiaomi's and OnePlus's next-generation flagship phones could finally switch to more precise ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors, according to Chinese sources.

The second quarter will be a great period of many new smartphones and most of them will have a Snapdragon 845 SoC if they don’t come from Huawei which has its own chip. The Xiaomi Mi 7 might be one of the first, or the second,  prominent phones to get an in-display fingerprint reader.

Using acquisition assets from Authentic and Privaris

According to the latest report from supply chain sources, Apple has been working hard to redesign the fingerprint sensor mechanism used in its Touch ID feature on the iPhone, and will release a new in-house solution for the upcoming OLED iPhone later this year in collaboration with TSMC process technology.
