In addition to the 5.9-inch Mate 9 phablet, Huawei talked about its very special Mate 9 Porsche Design version which will feature a smaller 5.5-inch AMOLED QHD 2560x1440 screen, adding up to 534 ppi of pixel density.
Although it uses the same Kirin 960 SoC, which we talked about earlier, the Mate 9 Porsche Design version packs 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage but lacks the micro SD card slot. It features the same dual 20MP+12MP Leica optics rear camera and pretty much the same specifications as the standard Huawei Mate 9 smartphone, including USB Type-C port and the same non-removable 4000mAh battery. The fingerprint sensor has also been moved from the back to the front bottom button.
The Mate 9 Porsche Design is somewhat smaller at 152x75x7.5mm, compared to the standard Mate 9, which can be attributed to the smaller screen. It is also lighter at 169g, while standard version tips the scale at 190g.
According to details provided by Huawei, the Mate 9 Porsche Edition will be available in Porsche Design Stores across Europe in late December with a hefty price tag of €1,395. The rest of the world should get it in January next year although precise details were not provided.
