HTC has now officially announced the newest addition to its Desire smartphone lineup, the 5.5-inch HTC Desire 820, which is also the second 64-bit smartphone from HTC.

Designed around a 5.5-inch 1280x720 resolution touch screen, it is obvious that this smartphone is a true mid-ranger. The Desire 820 is not only the second 64-bit smartphone from HTC, but also the first smartphone to feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 SoC, with eight-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU part and Adreno 405 GPU. The Snapdragon 615 is based on 64-bit architecture which should show all of its benefits once Google launches Android L OS. In this case, the Snapdragon 615 is paired up with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot.

The rest of the features for the HTC Desire 820 include LTE Cat. 4, 802.11n dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, front mounted stereo BoomSound speakers,  as well as a main 13-megapixel rear F2.2 and 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. The precise dimensions of the HTC Desire 820 are set at 157.7x78.74x7.74mm which makes it fairly small for a 5.5-inch device and it weighs 155g. It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat OS with a dash of HTC's own Sense UI and will be updated to Android L as soon as Google release it. It also features a 2600mAh battery which should provide enough power considering the type of screen on the HTC Desire 820. 

As you can see from these couple of pictures, the HTC Desire 820 will be available in a couple of different color choices and should be available in Europe later this year with a price tag of €329.
