Clarke argued that Dell had a hard time making money on Android phones due to the fact that Android is content oriented. Well that and the fact that practically nobody bought Dell phones to begin with. The decision is hardly surprising, as even smartphone veterans like HTC, Sony and Nokia are struggling to crack this insanely competitive market.
So what’s Dell’s new mobile strategy? It seems the outfit is pinning its hopes on Windows tablets instead, both in Windows 8 and RT flavours. But Clarke also told Forbes that Dells is still “looking at Android,” just not Android-based phones.
