Samsung goes nuts with Galaxy pricing, again
Galaxy Duos and Premier listed in Euroland
Samsung seems to be trying to emulate Apple just a bit too hard.
Over the weekend we spotted a few new listings of Sammy’s new Galaxy Premier and dual-SIM Galaxy Duos and the prices are nothing short of ridiculous.
The Duos, an entry level phone powered by the venerable Qualcomm MSM7227A processor, is selling upwards of €235 in Germany and a few other markets. With a 4-inch WVGA screen, 5-megapixel camera and 4GB of storage, it looks like a throwback to the original Galaxy S, yet it costs more than entry level dual-core phones.
Still, it could be worse.
The new Galaxy Premier, which is basically a Galaxy Nexus with a fancy new case, is listed at a whopping €699 for the 8GB version, while the 16GB unit is listed at €749. Mind you, unlike the Duos, the Premier is still not available and there are only a few listings out there and we assume that the prices are way off. They must be, as there is no way Samsung would try to charge more for the Premier than it does for the S III.
Still, if the Galaxy S III mini is anything to go by, the Premier probably won’t come cheap and won’t be the affordable alternative to the S III that Samsung fans were hoping for.
