Nokia expected to report new sales plunge
Proves Newton wrong, overtakes Felix Baumgartner
Finnish phone maker Nokia is expected to report a new drop in overall sales and a further loss in market share, AP reports.
Samsung overtook Nokia as the world’s top phone maker back in Q1, with 86 million units sold compared to Nokia’s 83. But the figures are even worse without feature phones in the equation. Nokia managed to sell just four million Lumia Windows phones in the second quarter and sales of cheaper Symbian smartphones have fallen off a cliff.
Analysts are expecting Nokia to bounce back with Windows Phone 8 devices toward the end of the year. However, it is still unclear whether the new OS and devices will be enough to bring Nokia back to the big leagues.
