Android 4.1 was launched two months ago and it powers 1.2 percent of active Android devices. Since there are still practically no official Jelly Bean updates for most products, it is safe to assume that vast majority of the 1.2 percent comes down to Nexus puritans.
However, the adoption rate rose by 50 percent over the last month, which is good news. ICS is also going strong and it currently powers 20.9 percent of active Android devices. This is a 25 percent increase in a single month. Gingerbread dropped to 57.5 percent from 60.6 percent a month ago, but it is still the dominant Android version out there.
At a press event on Wednesday, Google chairman Eric Schmidt revealed that 1.3 million Android devices are activated each day and the total number of active devices has hit 480 million.
