RIM’s usage share in the United States has plunged to just one percent. The struggling mobile outfit has definitely seen better days and the news comes as no surprise, as the company has repeatedly failed to put up a good fight against Apple and Google.

According to Chitika web usage statistics, BlackBerry usage share dropped 25 percent between September 2011 and July 2011. Apple’s share grew by 35 percent and Android also did fine. Well, we are guessing it did, since Chitika did not release and Android share data.

Chitika believes RIM needs to radically change its business model if it hopes to survive the combined might of Android and iOS. RIM hopes to introduce its BlackBerry 10 operating system in 2013, but at this point it could be too little too late.
