An interesting blog has revealed some rather juicy details behind Microsoft’s Kin debacle. As if disastrous sales and an embarrassing cancellation of the entire project wasn’t enough, several Microsoft employees have shed a bit more light on the shortcomings which eventually doomed Redmond’s first smartphone.
Of course, everyone is washing their hands of any responsibility. Hindsight is 20/20, but many of the posts come across as sincere and to some extent even remorseful. The general consensus seems to be that the blame solely lies with management and unprofessionalism of some team members.
Poor marketing was named as the most significant factor in Kin’s demise, but staffers also pointed out that the device featured horrid Facebook and Twitter integration, bad app support and horrid data plans, courtesy of Verizon.
