In Barcelona nVidia showed the new mobile chip, the APX 2500, which can smoothly playback -- believe it or not – the 720p H.264 HD video via HDMI. CPU + GPU + Audio Processing Unit are all squeezed somehow into this tiny but powerful chip.
But that’s not all; it can also capture 720p resolution at 30fps. This device is also using nPower technology, which means that you have up to 10 hours of 720p HD of video playback or up to 100 hours of music playback.
You can see here from the picture that this little device plays back the video on this large screen. We didn’t see any playback imperfections or slowdowns. It can run some impressive 3D graphics smoothly. nVidia has shown us some 3D user interface with nice transitions, spinning effects, widgets and cool menu interactions, which are really impressive.
There is no info yet when the chip is going into production but we would definitely like it to be in my next future phone.
