Android out in two weeks
Earlier than expected
Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile U.S. arm will flog a mobile phone that uses Google's Android software within weeks.
According to the Mercury News, Google and T-Mobile plan to present details of the release on September 23rd in New York. The handset will be a smartphone, which allows users to surf the Web more quickly, check e-mails, send and view videos and download music and maps.
T-Mobile would be the first wireless carrier to market a handset that uses the Android operating system. The Linux-based Android is free code that allows programmers to develop applications for mobile devices.
A spokesman for T- Mobile in Bonn, Germany said that it always said it present an Android-based cell phone this year, but refused to give any more details.
