As AMD desperately needs a cash injection, it is considering to sell its handheld division and Qualcomm is very interested to get its hands on it. Three years ago the companies even joined forces for a strategic partnership.
I wrote about this back in 2004, more than three years ago and you can read it here, but now Qualcomm would not mind to acquire this division and makes its mobile business even stronger.
Wise chaps from the investor community were not happy about such a deal, as it will get some cash into AMD, but the company would lose some of its value. This is not what chaps such as Stanley Morgan wants.
We heard a number that AMD is considering to accept for its handheld business division and we're talking around the 500 million mark. By the rate that AMD is losing money, this might be enough to pay the bills for a single quarter.
