Axim PDA range abandoned
Dell does not need them anymore
Dell has stopped selling its Axim line of handhelds and says it has no plans to replace them with another PDA range. According to ZDNet, Dell does not sell any other handhelds from rivals including GPS devices and smart phones either.
The Axim Pocket PC first appeared in 2002. It was designed as a cheap handheld in a market where they usually set you back a few hundred dollars. Dell added features such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless technologies and released its most recent model, the X51, in 2005.
However the personal organiser market has been replaced by smart phones that combine such features as calendar and contact functions with telephony.
