The sixth generation Core for notebooks

Intel has kicked off its press event at IFA 2015 in Berlin and  has just announced the sixth generation Core technology that know as Skylake.

A gaming part of Dell that goes under the name of Alienware has just announced updated version of its 13, 15 and 17 inch notebooks. Since this updated happened at Pax on the August 27th last week, the company could not talk about the Skylake update for its notebooks. 

Only a week to go

Intel is going to launch its Skylake Core i5 and i7 CPUs on September 1, with Core i3s and Pentiums probably available on the same day in Asia, but their specs are still largely guesswork.

But Intel is still saying nothing

At IDF 2015, HP, Dell, Lenovo and others are showing us what is the latest and greatest in tablets, notebooks and "two in ones", but Intel seems to be keeping itself on the sidelines.

A lot of controversial messaging

There is no doubt that Skylake is rather impressive architecture with a huge focus on mobile. At the same time, the Skylake Core i7 6700K desktop part seems to be the most disconnected product launch Intel did in the last few years.

Intel knocks in an own goal

While Chipzilla was banking on its Skylake chip to sort out its bottom line, it appears that it forgot to make nearly enough.

The new ThinkPad P50 and P70

While Intel has just unveiled the upcoming Xeon E3-1500M v5 CPUs for notebooks, Lenovo has unveiled two new mobile workstations that will be based on those same chips, the ThinkPad P50 and the ThinkPad P70.

Three motherboards for starters

Following Intel's launch of the Skylake platform, EVGA has announced its lineup which includes a total of three Intel Z170 chipset based motherboards.

MSI has unveiled its full lineup of Intel Z170 Express chipset based motherboards that will be a part of its Gaming series lineup.
