Based on the Silicon Motion SM2258 controller paired up with Toshiba 64-layer 3D TLC NAND, the Plextor M8V SSD series should do well in the budget oriented market.
The Plextor M8V series will be available in standard 2.5-inch and M.2-2280 form-factors, come in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB and offer sequential read and write performance of up to 400/560 MB/s, 510/560 MB/s and 520/560 MB/s, respectively.
The 4k random read and write performance is set at 60/70k IOPS for the 128GB, 80/81k IOPS for the 256GB and 81/82k IOPS for the 512GB model. The M8V series has an endurance rating 70, 140 and 280 TBW. It is backed by a 3-year warranty, which is standard for a budget-oriented SSD.
Unfortunately, Plextor did not reveal any details regarding the price but we expect them to show up on retail/e-tail shelves soon.
