Kingston rolls out 256GB DataTraveller
Big fat USB with a hefty price tag
Kingston technology has rolled out its newest DataTraveller 300 model with 256GB of capacity. This 70.68x16.90x22.99mm pocket USB drive has a rectractable USB connector and comes with a hefty price tag, one that we believe to be rather pointless.
The new DataTraveller has read and write speeds of 20 and 10MB/s and features Windows ReadyBoost and Kingston's own data-encryption software. Thanks to its dimensions, this USB drive is almost twice as thick as a regular USB drive.
The new DataTraveler DT300/256GB has a 5-year warranty and it costs €775, which is simply pointless, as for that amount of money you can easily buy several portable hard disk drives. (Or a mid range notebook, and an external hard drive, and a decent USB stick. sub.ed.)
