Panasonic has announced it will release a 16GB Pro High Speed SDHC memory card in November 2007. Its Pro High Speed series currently consists of four models, ranging from 1 to 8GB in capacity.
The new model offers transfer speeds of up to 20MB/s, which qualifies it for the Class 6 speed specification. The company claims it can store as much as 2 hours and 40 minutes of 1080i video on their latest HDC-SD5 camera.
With more and more flash based video cameras appearing on the market, as well as high resolution still cameras with impressive video modes, this is a welcome move.
The card should retail at $319.99. Seems a bit on the expensive side, but hopefully the price will drop quickly.
