At Embedded System Conference Super talent introduced a bunch of IDE Flash Disk modules called FMD. In a San Jose based event the Super Company jumped to a new market called Flash drive modules. These drives should be compatible with all motherboards and it offers high performance and readability, compact size and low cost. All you need is an IDE slot.
Super Talent offers models with 40 pin and 44 pin IDE
connectors and the connector can be oriented horizontally or vertically. The
marketing chap claims that this is a natural expansion of the existing SSD (Solid
State Drive) market.
The capacity goes up to 8GB and Super talent announced sixteen different parts
from 1, 2, 4 and finally 8 GB capacity.
The main customers for these drives are the industrial PCs
and the embedded applications. A mass production starts in middle of April and
the OEM price for 8Gigabyte models is approximately $199.
