The AMD Radeon RX 7900M is based on the Navi 31 GPU. It packs 72 RDNA 3 compute units (CUs) for a total of 4608 Stream Processors, 64MB of 2nd gen Infinity Cache, and 16GB of 18Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU works at 1825MHz Game clock and boosts up to 2090MHz. While it might end up being the fastest notebook GPU around, its TGP is set at 160W (TDP is at 180W and it peaks at 200W with SmartShift Max). This is quite a power draw considering that the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4090 Mobile TGP is set at 150W (175W with Dynamic Boost).
According to AMD, the Radeon RX 7900M should end up around 7 percent faster compared to the Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080 Laptop graphics card at 1440p resolution.
As said, the Radeon RX 7900M is launching on the Alienware m18 laptop, combined with AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX 16-core Zen 4 CPU. So far, there are no other launch partners but we will watch for them. The Alienware m18 is available as of today, starting at $2,799.99.
