The Geforce RTX 3070 will be the third SKU in the RTX 30 series launch, and after availability problems with both the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090, launched earlier last month, Nvidia does not want to make the same mistake, ramping up the production and providing an ample stock when it officially shows up on retail/e-tail shelves. Originally meant to launch on October 15th, Nvidia has now decided to push back the launch to October 29th.
In case you missed it, the Geforce RTX 3070 is based on GA104-300 GPU and packs 5888 CUDA cores, with 184 Tensor cores and 46 RT cores. The GPU works at 1500MHz base clock with 1725MHz GPU Boost clock, pushing 203. TFLOPs of compute performance. The card features 8GB of 14Gbps GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit memory interface, providing 448GB/s of memory bandwidth.
The TDP is set at 220W and it has a $499 starting price. As far as performance goes, it should offer similar performance to the Geforce RTX 2080 Ti, at least according to Nvidia, and should be 60 percent faster than the Geforce RTX 2070.
This move from Nvidia means that the RTX 3060 Ti could also be pushed back from the rumored October launch, which means it could be coming in early November.
