Nvidia is still probably waiting for the official launch of AMD's Radeon RX 5600 XT, which is coming on Tuesday, January 21st, but the company released a brief notice saying that some RTX 2060 are already available for $299.99.
This mostly refers to EVGA's recently launched RTX 2060 KO, as so far that is the only RTX 2060 available for $299.99, and you can buy it directly from EVGA or over at Newegg.com.
Also, the RTX 2060 Founders Edition, available directly from Nvidia's own site, is down to $299.
It also appears that European retailers/e-tailers are catching up, and some RTX 2060 graphics cards can be found at €299.99.
Radeon RX 5600 XT aims at GTX 1660 Ti with $279 price tag
AMD is actually targeting Nvidia's GTX 1660 Ti with its upcoming Radeon RX 5600 XT, promising ultimate 1080p gaming and higher performance, but at $299.99, the RTX 2060 is obviously a better choice.
Nvidia is also putting a lot of pressure on its GTX 1660 Ti as well, so it is possible that we will see a slight price adjustment there as well, as the company has room since the next card in the lineup is the GTX 1660 Super, priced at $229. AMD, on the other hand, has nothing in that price bracket, at least unless it comes up with an RX 5600 non-XT, which could fit between the RX 5500 XT and the RX 5600 XT.
Price wars are good for consumers
Consumers are definitely going to benefit from these price wars as it will finally drive the prices down, and although AMD still does not have anything to counter Nvidia in the high-end, the company is putting some pressure on Nvidia, and entry- and mid-range graphics card market is finally getting some much-needed price cuts.
