First dedicated Ray Tracing benchmark

As announced earlier, UL Benchmarks has now officially launched its first dedicated ray tracing benchmark, the 3DMark Port Royal.

Using Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing (DXR) API, the 3DMark Port Royal features raytraced reflections, shadows, and other effects, in order to push DXR-capable graphics cards to their limits at 1440p resolution.

According to UL Benchmarks, the 3DMark Port Royal was developed in cooperation with AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Microsoft, and other companies, although it is currently DXR-accelerated only on Nvidia RTX series. It also features direct compute modes for older graphics cards.

The new 3DMark Port Royal is currently available in both 3DMark Advanced Edition and 3DMark Professional Edition, and it needs Windows 10 October Update in order to run properly. It is also available as a stand-alone upgrade for 3DMark Advanced Edition with a price of $2.99.

You can check out the full demo video below and find more details over at UL Benchmarks' 3DMark page.
