Well it was only a matter of time before 3D made a push for the internet, as Mozilla revealed that it built a game on its 3D browser engine dubbed Gladius.
Gladius is part of the company’s project Paladin, which aims to push 3D onto the web and browsers. Mozilla initially worked with CubicVR.js. 3D engine but the company ended up building on it and making Gladius.
It yielded a playable albeit basic game which proved that the company’s on the right track. The game is called RescueFox and while functional, the Paladin team will not pursue it further as it was built merely for demo purposes. However, the company says it will be “prototyping another microgame soon once the Gladius refactoring is a bit further along, and we’ll be very interested in having folks help out there…”
