Sources close to Nvidia claims that Nvidia has shipped thousands of GTX 480 and 470 cards and that the availability issue should become a thing of the past.
We checked
a few price comparison engines including the one here and we found out that
many of these cards are available. The cards are now available in some smaller European
countries and not only in Germany, UK, France and Spain, the giant markets.
Resellers
wants some €330 for the Geforce GTX 470 and close to €490 for the Geforce GTX
480, but we will leave the browsing and comparisons up to you. You can start your
Fermi, Gerforce GTX 480 quest here.
The big
question to remain is if Nvidia will manage to sell all these cards and what
will ATI do now once Nvidia has its cards widely available on the market. It's
about a month time until Nvidia launches the GF100 – Fermi based Geforce GTX 460 (GTX 465
branding is also a possibility) and until the pricing of Fermi-based cards goes towards the
performance / mainstream part of the market.
