Sandy Bridge supports up to 4 displays
Two internal and two via USB
It looks like Sandy Bridge CPUs and the platform powered by the Cougar Point chipset have a few surprises in store for us. Not only can Intel support dual displays, but it now claims that with the help of Cougar Point chipset, it can support up to four displays.
It plans to support two via integrated graphics that are part of the CPU, whereas the additional two would be possible via USB and would be powered by Cougar Point, Intel 6 series chipset. Unfortunately, at this point we don’t have any more details.
This is not the only surprise as the new IGP from Intel comes with an integrated DisplayPort support all the way to 2560x1600. Let’s not forget the HDMI 1.3 support with premium audio, which gives Intel's integrated graphics a much better flavor.
• Sandy Bridge Graphics Support
• Integrated Displayport with up to 2560x1600 resolution
• Multi-monitor display with up to 4 displays: 2 Int, 2 USB2
