Forum user BAGZZlash
from TechPowerUp has recently released a new and significant update to his alluring
Radeon BIOS Editor utility, more commonly abbreviated as RBE.
In perspective, the software tool is essentially a
convenient way to flash a custom BIOS to any Radeon HD-series desktop GPU with
user-defined voltage adjustments and frequency settings. Unlike conventional
approaches to tweaking that are available in RivaTuner and similar
applications, RBE facilitates seamless GPU BIOS adjustments including the
manipulation of voltage registers on Radeon GPU, making real software voltmods
a possibility.
The latest release adds a full list of Radeon HD 5xx0 device
IDs and now officially supports the HD 5670, HD 5750, HD 5770, HD 5850, HD
5870, and dual-GPU HD 5970. In addition, it fixes a GetStringPos" bug that
occurred on rare BIOSes and improves RAM and RAM interface detection.
Unfortunately, there is still no voltage tweaking ability
for Radeon HD 5000-series cards, but we can be assured that this will probably
come in the next release.
RBE 1.23 can be downloaded here.
