At this time, Nvidia is still not telling its partners what to do against ATI's 40nm Radeon HD 4770. Some ATI oriented customers do like the 40nm technology edge and the market is picking up nicely on this quite fast sub-€100 card, but Nvidia still advises its partners to offer GTS 250 to whoever wants HD 4770.
Geforce GTS 250 is at least 10 to 15 percent more expensive,
but it is faster as well. The issue is that this part of market is very price
driven.
Overall, 2009 will be the time of swimming through the mess, not making
much money and operating with tight margins. Since the competition between ATI and Nvidia is
tougher than at any point before, it won’t be easy for Nvidia and ATI partners to
make much profit or even break even.
Nvidia, show them the light as for a change, they need guidance, at least some of them.
