Hong Kong based Inno3D is the surprise of the week as this company has launched a 700MHz clocked Geforce GTX 285. BFG, EVGA and Zotac have 702MHz clocked cards, and this is the fastest speed reported so far.
702MHz looks to be the magic number and if you go official
over that, you might be risking some huge RMA rates. Some VGA
manufactures have also told us that despite heavy overclock of 702MHz many users
will push the cards even more, and therefore there should be some more
overclocking space for these users.
According to Nvidia, GTX 285 GPU thermal threshold is 105 degrees Celsius
and if you get over this temperature, the GPU will automatically downclock in
order to save itself from annihilation. It will be interesting to see if any of
GTX 285 ends up faster than 702MHz.
