Destiny developer Bungie, in an announcement on the developer’s web site has confirmed the launch of their first title since again becoming an independent studio. Destiny which was first announced to be released in the Spring of 2014, is now confirmed for release on September 9th, 2014.

The news has been met with mixed reaction from gamers who have been excited for Bungie to finally release this fresh offering that promises something new and different from the Halo titles that the company has done in the past. Bungie claims that the decision was made to “ensure that Destiny can live up to expectations.”

Due to the release delay on Destiny, this also pushes the Destiny beta back as well. Now Bungie says that the beta will go live at some point during the Summer of 2014. The beta as has been previously announced will be available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 first before eventually coming to other platforms.

The decision puts Destiny square in the crosshairs of a number of other major releases that will be coming in the run up to the holidays in 2014. One game however that it looks to miss is Titanfall, which as far as we have been told will make its launch date on March 11th. Besides Titanfall from developer Respawn, Bungie’s Destiny is one of the new franchises that gamers have been looking forward to seeing arrive.
