Sony has confirmed that it has been able to identify and should be able to resolve the issue that was causing problems with the Firmware update process using the 4.45 Firmware. From our understanding, Sony will deploy this fix starting this Thursday.

Those users who have reported that their consoles were bricked by the update process have not received any additional information yet from Sony on how they will be able to recover their PS3 consoles after they have been bricked. According to sources, Sony will be releasing directions on Thursday.

It is not clear what might be included in these instructions. Sony seems to be confident that the replacement Firmware that is coming on June 27th will resolve users’ issues, but we have to admit that we have a lot more questions than answers from Sony so far.
