The upcoming (and we only assume that it is still upcoming because we have not heard anything different) Ascend: New Gods, which was announced way back at E3 2013, will be getting a new name. A recent new trademark supplication reveals that Microsoft has re-branded the title to now be known as Hand of Kul.

The game, which has been in development by Signal Studios, developers of the very popular Toy Soldiers and Toy Soldiers: Cold War, has not had much to say about the game other than it is still coming and it should be heading into a closed Beta in June with an open beta to follow later.

It is unknown if the rebranding of the game is part of a larger strategy to being a title to the Xbox Next. We expect to hear more about it at either the Xbox Next reveal on the 21st or Microsoft’s presser at E3.
