At GDC, Battlefield 4 was shown fort the first time in a 17-minute gameplay trailer. From the trailer, it is clear that the title is next generation using the latest version of the Frostbite 3 engine. While the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of the game are officially confirmed, release on both the Microsoft and Sony next-generation consoles seems assured.
DICE joins what is becoming a significant list of developers that have decided to pass on doing a Wii U release of their current projects. In some cases, the need to convert their engine to take advantage of the Wii U is said to be the reason, but in other cases it seems there is as a lack of confidence in the sales performance of a Wii U version.
