The news comes via a posting on TenNapel’s Facebook account, The Neverhood, where he said that he was working with Mike Dietz and Ed Schofield from his Earthworm Jim days, and The Neverhood composer Terry Taylor. Fans were invited to offer input on the game via his Facebook page.
TenNapel offered that the game would be in his usual style and would feature brand new characters. Despite the fact that fans want a sequel to The Neverhood, TenNapel explains that he no longer owns the rights; the rights were sold to DreamWorks, the software IP was later acquired by EA and EA now has the rights.
While TenNapel does not talk about timelines or when he would like to see the new title released, he indicates that the project is off the ground, which is the first step. No word if TenNapel has a publisher that he will be working with on the project, but so far it looks to be an independent release. We will have to keep an eye on this and see how it develops.
