The disc-based retail version of Minecraft will contain he 9th update version of the software, as well as all of the content that has been released for it up to this point. Going forward, users with an Internet connection will receive the same ongoing updates and content as those who purchased the digital version, which is actually really good news.
The retail version is also headed to release on the Xbox 360 in Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan at some point in June. We hear that it will also be headed to Europe at some point, but it isn’t clear when. What a way for Microsoft to end its console exclusive release on Minecraft with a retail offering.
